A hydrogel blend composed of kappa-carrageenan (KC) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM) was prepared by γ-irradiation.The blend gel prepared by this method was transparent
elastic and exhibited better mechanical strengh. The measurement of gel properties showed that the hydrogel blend had the sodium chlorideinduced phase transition behavior. The release kinetics curves of Cl- in swelling system and the relationship between the Cl- induced phase transition concentration and swelling temperature proved the conclusion.Meanwhile
the typical thermosensitive feature of PNIPAM was also preserved.
