Pressed films of blends nf polypropylene (PP) with ethylene-propylene rubber(EPR) were examined by small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS)

and scanning electron microscope(SEM)．The correlation distance ac

average chord length l and radius of gyration Rg were calculated using Debye-Buech statistical theory

both ac and Rg had a maximum values at 50／50 (PP-EPR) in blends

l1 EPR (EPR phase) increased with EPR content

whereas l2 IPP (IPP Dhase) decreased．Using X-ray scattering

Pored’s index a was further calculated

and the fractal behavior and shapes of scattering units were analyzed

the results showed that the shapes of the scattering particles were intermediate between sheets and spheres and were self-similar．The structure and morphology of blends were also studied by SEM

the average diameter D of dispersed phase was also calculated

and the change of D with EPR content was in accord with that of ac

Rg and l．
