The effects of polypropylene-g-maleic anhydride(PP-g-MAH) on the structure and performance of PP/polyamide (PA6) blends were studied by using DSC
SEM
and melt-spinning
etc.The results indicated that PP/PA6 blends have typical incompatible sea-island bi-phase structure:the compatibility of PP
PA6 blends was improved with the addition of the grafted copolymer PP-g-MAH.PP and PA6 crystallized separately in the bulk blends.instead of forming co-crystallization or new crystalline forms.Both the crystal growth rate and nucleation rate of the blends were decreased
due to the in-situ reaction-compatibilization of PP-g-MAH with PA6.The spinnability of the PP/PA6 blends was obviously improved due to the addition of eompatibilizer.
