New biodegradable Poly(terephthalyl tyrosine ester amide)carbonates were synthesized from tyrosine derived diphenols and phosgene in dichloromethane using pyridine as acid acceptor.Their chemical structures were confirmed by 1H-NMR
FT IR and elemental analysis. The physical properties of the polycarbonates could be modulated by the use of different tyrosine esters. The in vitro degradation and drug release profile of 5 fluorouracil and bovine serum albumin were also studied.
