Silica-supported polyvinylpyrrolidone-Pd complex has been prepared and has shown that it can be used as an active catalyst for the hydrogenation of aromatic nitro-compounds at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The stability of this catalyst during hydrogenation may be increased by adding equimolar acetic acid. The effects of N/Pd molar ratio in the comples
solvents and the kind of substrates used on the catalytic activity were also studied.
