The effect of electron beam on the crystallinity of irradiated sulphite cellulose have been investigated by X-diffraction. When two methods of making the X-ray diffraction samples were used
contradictory results were obtained. It is thought that at high dose
the crystallinity of cellulose might be destroyed by radiation and decreased with increasing the radiation dose. Our experiments have proved that when the irradiated cellulose is pressed by mechanical force in procedure of making the X-ray diffraction sample
the crystalliinity of irradiated cellulose will be recovered because of its recrystallization. The aforementioned phenomenon could be explained with models. A method to determine the crystallinities of irradiated cellulose was suggested.
