A well-defined graft copolymer of styrene(St) and n-butyl acrylate(BA) was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) with the copolymer of styrene and chloromethyl stryrene as macroinitiator
which was first synthesized by the nitroxide-mediated copolymerization of St and 4-chloromethyl styrene (CMS) at 130℃ with benzoyl peroxide/4-hydro TEMPO as initiator.The kinetics of the two kinds of “living”/controlled polymerization were also studied.These copolymers
i.e.P(St-co-CMS) and P(St-g-BA)
were characterized by means of GPC
DSC and 1H-NMR
respectively.The average graft number and length of side chains for such a kind of graft copolymer were defermined.
