The PP/graphite compounding powders were prepared by pan-milling at ambient temperature. Under the strong shear in pan-milling process
PP may react solid-mechanochemically with graphite. The crystalline structure changes of PP in the PP/graphite system during pan-milling were characterized by using FTIR
DSC and WAXD techniques. It was found that after pan-milling the crystallinity of PP decreased from 57.2% to 26.4%
the crystallite size decrease and the distance between crystal faces slightly increased. These changes can be partially recovered during further molding or thermal treatment. The results showed the existence of some content of γ-form crystals of PP in the PP/graphite composites after pan-milling.
