It is firstly reported that after the rapid formation of a gel by mixing of the MMA and neodymium triisopropoxide.the PMMA hybrid materials containing neodymium Nd(x)/PMMA were prepared by the in-situDolymerization.It has been characterized by FT-IR
TG
XWAD
DMTA
SEM etc
which indicated that there is coordination interaction between neodymium (Ⅲ) ion and carboxide (C=O) in the PMMA and the resulting crosslink network structure in the PMMA hybrid materials. The Nd/PMMA materials couldn’t dissolve but only could swell in most good solvents of PMMA.The introduction of triisopropoxyl neodymium could improve the heat resistance and toughness of PMMA.Dynamical mechanical thermal analysis shown that storage modulus (E′) of Nd/PMMA materials increased and glass transition temperature (Tg) decreased with increasing Nd content. Moreover
the preparation method of the non-water gel in-situ polymerization overcome the association of rare earth ions in the materials
and results in formation of the triisopropoxyl neodymium/PMMA hybrid materials with high rare earth content and uniform distribution.
