Dynamical vulcanization process was successfully applied to the PP/epoxy blends. The compatibility of two components
dynamical cure of the epoxy resin and mechanical properties of the blends were studied.Since the epoxy resin and PP are immiscible
maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MAH) was used as a compatibilizer. The dynamically cured PP/epoxy blends with the structure of epoxy resin particles finely dispersed in the PP matrix were obtalned. The tensile strength and flexural modulus of the dynamically cured PP/epoxy blend containing 5% epoxy resin increase by 30% and 50%
the impact strength increases by 15% compared to PP
but the elongation at break decreases dramatically. With further increasing the epoxy resin content
the flexural modulus and tensile strength increase slowly and the impact strength varies slightly
while the elongation at break decreases rapidly.Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) shows that the dynamically cured PP/epexy blends have higher storage modulus (E′) compared to PP.
