The strategy to design and fabricate organic-inorganic nanocomposite microspheres is of burgeoning interest in recent years.Electron staining technique was used to investigate the effect of various staining parameters on the morphology of organic-inorganic nanocomposite microspheres with SiO2/P(St-co-BA) core-shell nanocomposite particles as an example.The results showed that the different staining conditions had an obvious influence on the morphology of organic-inorganic nanocomposite microspheres observed by transmission electron microscope (TEM).It was found that the staining time was around 1 min and the staining agent dosage should be controlled between 0.08%~0.16% to obtain the desired results.Usually
uranium acetate may give better TEM results than phosphtungstic acid.
