Thermoplastic acetylated starch(TPAS)was prepared with acetylatad starch as matrix and glycerol as plasticizer by Haake Rheomix．Experimental results showed that the weight ratio of glycerol／acetylated starch should exceed 30/100 for obtaining TPAS

and the brittleness of TPAS decreased with increasing glycerol content．Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA)indicated that acetylated starch and glycerol were partially miscible with separated aeetylated．starch—rich phase and glycerol—rich phase．The rheological properties of TPAS exhibited solid—like behavior．indicating the strong interaction among the acetylated starch molecules．In addition

the thermal stability of TPAS was also investigated in this paper．
