The comb-shaped copolymers PAn-g—PEG were prepared by chemical oxidation copolymerization of aniline and methoxyl poly(ethylane glycol)o-aminophenyl ether. The UV-visible spectra
microstructures
thermal stabilities.solubility and film-forming properties of the copolymers were investigated as functions of side-chain poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)segments. The results show that when the PEG segments length or its content in the grafted copolymers are increased
the solubility and film-forming property of PAn—g—PEG improve remarkably
and the electrical conductivity decreases slowly
while the thermal stability becomes worse.TEM images indicate that the copolymers exhibit microphase separation and morphology change from the“sea-island’’mode to the"bicontinuous”one with increasing the length or content of the PEG segments.A soft and smooth conducting polymeric film ean be directly obtained by casting the stable aqueous dispersion of PAn—g—PEG
which becomes water-soluble when the PEG segments length or content are increased.
