polypmpylene/nano—TiO2/POE composites and polypropylene/bulk—TiO2/POE composites were prepared by a melt—blending process.Polypropylene and composites were degradated in a 28 days accelerated aging test with a laboratory xenon arc lamp(GB/T 16422.2-1999).It was shown that
with the UV shielding capability of nano-scale futile TiO2
the ageing resistance of polypropylene was improved.the survice life of polypropylene was prolonged and the tougheness of PP was increased to a great extent too.The ageing resistance of polypropylene/nano—TiO2/POE composites was better than that of polypmpylene/bulk—TiO2/POE composites.After 28 days exposure to xenon arc lamp the IZOD unnotched impact strength of polypropylene/(1.0 wt%)nano.TiO2/POE composites was 80.45 kJ·m-2which was more than four times as high as that of pure PP.At the sanme time the impact strength of polypropylene/(1.0 wt%)bulk—TiO2/POE composites was only 47.88 kJ·m-2 after 28 days exposure to xenon arc lamp.
