The effect of rubber particle dispersion on the toughnessmodulus relationship of polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/nitrile rubber (NBR) blends is studied. It is demonstrated that the pseudonetwork morphology is much more effective in the rubber toughening of PVC than that of welldispersed rubber particles. However
the rubber particle dispersion does not affect the tensile modulusrubber volume fraction relationship of the blends. The effect of rubber particle dispersion on the toughnessmodulus relationship of PVC/NBR blends are compared. It is concluded that the pseudonetwork morphology is very efficient in generating PVC/rubber blends simulataneously with high toughness and high stiffness.
