Synthesis and characterization of high conductivity polyaniline/clay hybridnanocomposite with extended chain conformation are presented in this paper. The conductiveemevaldine saltform of polyanilineisinserted into the galleries of montmorilloniteto producethe hybrid with high conductivity . theresultsshow that what we obtained is really a nanocomposite and over 90% polyaniline chain is inserted between the layers. In the nanocomposite polyaniline exists in single chains with extended-chain conformation owing ot the confined environment in the nanometer size gallery. Monitoring the polymerization process by electron and optical spectra it was found that the polymerization is a diffusion-limited process.
