Ferrocenediyldimethylsilane monomer has been synthesized.A series of poly(ferrocenyl dimethylsilanes) with different molecular weights have been prepared by thermal ring\|opening polymerization of 1
1′-Ferrocenediyldimethylsilane at different polymerization time. It was found that with increasing polymerization time from 5min to 60min the molecular weights of resultant poly(ferrocenyl dimethylsilanes) increase from Mn=1.7×104 to Mn=1.7×105. The reactions of ferrocene with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and the reactions of poly(ferrocenyl dimethylsilanes) with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) were investigated by ESR. A signal with g≈2 was detected from resultant poly (ferrocenyl dimethylsilane)/TCNE system
which indicates the formation of poly (ferrocenyl dimethylsiliane)/TCNE charge transfer complex.
