The dissolving properties of polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) in a new solvent system

an aqueous solution of ionic surfactant

were studied.The effect of the structure and content of the surfactant

temperature and the inorganic electrolyte added in the solution was investigated.The morphology of PEC dissolved in the aqueous solution was studied by using SEM technique.It was found that the increase of temperature and the carbon chain length of the ionic surfactant may promote the dissolving of PEC

and the addition of a small amount of inorganic electrolyte such as sodium chloride is also beneficial to the dissolving of PEC. It is supposed that the dissolving mechanism of PEC is the cooperating results of the dissociation function and the hydrophobic action of the ionic surfactant.
