It was discovered that nano-Cu particles possessed high activity in acetylene polymerization.The composite which consisted of nano-Cu and acetylene-polymer was a kind of microfiber.According to the IR analysis
the molecular structure of nanometer fiber contained both conjugate —C=C and saturated —CH2—
—CH3 groups.Nanometer fibers were easily oxidized in air
and there existed —C=O and —OH groups in the molecular structure
which was consistent with the mechanism of traditional polyacetylene oxidation.Acetylene could grow orientedly on certain crystal surface or active sites of nao-Cu particles.Nano-Cu particles could be located at both ends and the middle of fibers based on TEM observations.
