The reinforcing action of reinforcing fillers

such as many kinds of silica aerogel on silicone rubber

has been widely studied. However

the reinforcing action of non-reinforcing fillers were less concerned. In this study

several non-reinforcing fillers were used to reinforce the room temperture vulcanizable (RTV) silicone rubber. The effects of filler type

filler particle size and distribution on the tensile strenght

elongation and thermal stability of filled silicone rubber were disscussed. The result indicated that some of non-reinforcement fillers could reinforce RTV silicone rubber effectively

if the filler particle sizes are proper. It is interesting to find a maximum reinforcing action when the filler particle size and filer particle size distribution are optimized. The isothermal degradation indicated that the SiC could improve the thermal stability of silicone rubber effectively.
