Both polycaprolactone macromer and polypropylene oxide macromer were prepared from the ring opening polymerization of caplorolactone and propylene oxide respectively through the tetrapkenyl porphyrin aluminium chloride/hydroxypropyl methacrylate catalytic system.Both the polycaprolactone macromer and polypropylene oxide macromer possess narrow molecular weight distributions around 1.20.The butyl methacrylate copolymers with polycaprolactone macromer or polypropylene oxide as the side chains were prepared from the copolymerization of butyl me-thacrylate with polycaprolactone macromer or polypropylene oxide macromer respec-tively.
