EVA or EVA-g-VC phase were studied at 60℃ in water slurries. The experimental data were treated with three mathematical models: Flory-Huggins' classical model
Prigogine-Flory's free-volume model
and the author's linear model. The calculated values of the solubility of VC in the polymers agreed well with the experimental results. Moreover
it was shown that the free-volume model is applicable to VC/PVC system
the linear model has the advantage of adequate accuracy and simp-licity in use
and the solubility of VC in EVA-g-VC follows the rule of additivity.
