Six kinds of macroporous crosslinked polystyrene beads bearing ethylene glycol
poly-ethyleneglycol and their monoethers have been prepared. These resins are made from chloromethylated polystyrene beads
the glycols and their monoethers. In the optimum conditions
the percentages of conversion of chlorine atom into the ether groups are between 93.4-97.5%. These resins can adsorb gold ion Au(Ⅲ) selectively from aqueous hydrochloric acid solution in the presence of Pd(Ⅱ)
Cu2+
Ni2+
Cd2+ ions. The adsorption capacities of these resins are between 226.3-93.8mg Au(III)/g resin. The adsorbed gold ion can be eluted to 95.8% by 3% thiourea-1 N hydrochloric acid solution used as an eluent.
