The structure of poly-γ-mercaptopropylsiloxan-carbonylrhodium catalyst has been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).The experimental results indicate that the catalyst is formed by substituting two bridged chlorine atoms in tetracarbonyl- μ -dichlorodirhodium molecule with two sulfur atoms in si-licasupported poly-γ-mercaptopropylsiloxan.
