The effects of four anilides with different structures
e. g. 4-methoxysuccinyl aniline (MSA)
4-methoxysuccinyl-p-toluidine (MST)
succinic acid mono-p-toluidide (SAMT) and 4-methoxymaleoyl-p-toluidine (MMT)
on the polymerization of AAM initiated with eerie ion have been studied. The overall activation energy of polymerization and the kinetic equation of polymerization were determined. The end group analysis of polyacrylonitrile by IR spectrum confirmed that the free radical produced by the reaction of MST and ceric ion could initiate the polymerization of vinyl monomer.
