The compatibility in EVA/CPE or PVC was studied by IR spectroscopy. The frequency shifts of the carbonyl stretching vibration near 1739 cm-1 was examined as a function of VA content in EVA
Cl content in CPE(or PVC)
blend composition and sample temperature.By comparing with model systems
such as EVA/CCl4
EVA/CHsCCl3 and EVA/CHCl3
the frequency shift observed for the blends was associated mainly with the hydrogen-bonding-like interaction between EVA and CPE (PVC). Based on the temperature dependence of the C=O frequency
the phase separation temperature andits dependence onblend composition were obtained for EVA(VA40%)/CPE9C164%) system.
