opolymers of styrene and acrylamide with different acrylamide content (PSAm) and poly (2-hydroxyethylene methacrylate) (PHEMA) were synthesized by free radical polymerization. The miscibility of PSAm/PHEMA blends was studied with the use of DSC
IR methods. A miscibility window was observed when the amount of acrylamide in the copolymers was between 47 and 57mol%. A mean field theory was employed to analyze the blend system. The result showed that the repulsion of dissimilar segments in the copolymer chain led to the miscibility window of the blends.
