glucose-responsive polymeric materials have attracted great interest for their potential applications in diabetes diagnosis and therapy.Among them
phenylboronic acid (PBA) based polymers hold advantages such as high stability and reversible response as they are totally synthetic materials. This article reviewed the advances of PBA-based polymeric materials for self-regulated insulin delivery and continuous glucose monitoring.Self-regulated insulin delivery systems mainly include glucose-responsive micro/nanogels
polymeric micelles and vesicles.Their component and morphology have great effect on the glucose sensibility
repeated on-off release and insulin encapsulation. On the other hand
PBA-based systems for continuous glucose monitoring contain fluorescent sensors and colorimetric sensors.Since these polymeric materials are gradually optimized
they would show more potential for further practical applications.
